The Amherst Democratic Committee would like to hear from anyone interested in running for local office. Amherst has 3 seats in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, plus a 4th seat which is shared with Bedford. There are also several county-wide positions available. We are ready and willing to help local candidates with their campaigns; and are happy to answer questions and provide assistance in the planning process as well!
For those interested in running, here are some important deadlines:
June 5, 2018 — Last day to declare a party affiliation (if you are registered as Undeclared, but want to run as a Democrat you will need to change your affiliation to Democrat by June 5th).
June 6 – 15, 2018 – Filing Period For more information on how to file for office, here’s a link to the Secretary of State’s Website: http://sos.nh.gov/Running_For_Office.aspx
On April 7th the Milford Democrats are sponsoring a panel discussion for Democrats considering a run for the NH House of Representatives. Amherst residents considering running have been invited to attend. The panel will consist of incumbent and past Democratic Representatives in the NH legislature. Panelist will discuss why they decided to run, what it took to get elected and their experiences serving in the House. There are no commitments required, rather the session is designed to help potential candidates decide if a run for the House is right for them. The session will be at the Milford (Wadleigh) Library starting at 10:00 on Saturday, April 7. If you are interested in attending please respond to this email so we can let the Milford Democrats know how many people will be attending. If you are unable to attend the event on April 7th, but are interested in running please contact Anna Goulet Zimmerman at Anna@goulimmerman.com
