From Dan’s Facebook Page: “After graduating from the University of Maine with a BA in Political Science, I worked for the US Senate in Washington, DC as an accountant in the office of The Sergeant at Arms and volunteered part time for the balanced budget advocacy group The Concord Coalition, which was started by former US Senators Warren Rudman of New Hampshire and Paul Tsongas of Massachussetts.

After a few years in DC, I felt a strong desire to move back to New England. I returned to the University of Maine where I earned my Masters Degree in Political Science, graduating with Honors. While in school I worked with the City of Bangor, Maine in the finance office, then in economic development with the Maine Rural Development Council and later with Eastern Maine Development Council.

After graduation, I returned to the private sector, spending the next eight years as a mutual fund accountant and assistant company controller/controller for a large solid waste services company.

When my son Zachary was born, my wife and I decided that I would be a stay-at-home dad, which has been my primary job for the last 12 years. In many ways it was the most challenging job I’ve ever had, but by far the most rewarding.

Now that Zach and his sister Zoe are older, it’s time that I return to my passion of public service, where I will bring a broad base of life experience, public service experience, and business experience to the State House in Concord.”
