Amherst Representative Shannon Chandley (pictured above with Faye O’Neill of the Amherst Democratic Executive Committee) was recognized at the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s Annual McIntyre-Shaheen Dinner in April as the recipients of the prestigious Dunfey Kanteres Award. The award, named for Walter Dunfey and E. Leo Kanteres, to recognizes a lifetime work on behalf of the party.
The 2018 election will be here before we know it. The Committee to Elect House Democrats will be hosting an on-line auction to raise needed funds for the next election.
WHAT: On Line auction on the website http://www.biddingforgood.com/CEHD
WHEN: The auction will run for from May 10th – 20th
The New Hampshire House voted to reject one of Governor Sununu’s top legislative priority of the session, the SB193 school voucher bill. This was great news for local schools and local tax payers.
BUT, the bill’s not dead yet. On May 3rd, Senate Republicans attached the same school voucher bill to a different bill, HB 1636, sending it back to the House for concurrence.
This past week, the State Senate voted to pass HB 1264 – targeting young eligible voters. With this vote, they moved twin bills HB1264 and HB372 closer to Governor Sununu’s desk.
Instead of paving the way for eligible people to participate in our elections, New Hampshire’s HB372 and HB1264 put up more red tape so that eligible people have a hard time casting their ballots.
